Nursery and Primary School
Introduction
Our Motto: Achieving the Best for each Child
Our Mission:
To provide excellence in all areas of School life.
A good education is vital for a bright future in Uganda. Parents and Government value education highly, recognising it as the foundation and future for developing the nation.
Wellspring School Uganda seeks to provide the highest standards and develop each child’s potential to the full.
We work to produce excellent examination results as well as developing confident, mature individuals who can respect others.
Wellspring operates from a foundation of Christian principles and values. Each child or parent is respected and appreciated, regardless of age, sex, ethnic background or religion. The school welcomes children of all nationalities and faiths.
Parents are encouraged to understand and be involved in their child’s education. Open Days are held regularly with class presentations, progress and written reports.
Wellspring Nursery School
Wellspring Nursery School was established in 2000 with 8 pupils. There are now nearly 160 in the nursery section with 8 staff. They learn to read, write, add and recognise numbers or letters. Creative activities such as dance, dressing up, drama, and home play etc. all help develop vocabulary, imagination and self expression. Parents are amazed at how quickly the children develop. All lessons are taught in English, and even beginners learn quickly through the use of flash cards, pictures, posters and class resources.
Primary School
Our Primary School opened in 2002 with 10 children and now has 120 pupils. We have excellent experienced and well qualified teachers. They take great care of each child’s development both in academics and in character building. Staff work, pray and learn together in order to provide the best environment for the pupils.
In 2009 our P7 class will be candidates for PL.E We expect and anticipate good results.
The Uganda National Curriculum is followed each term and Prime examination papers are taken twice a term. The majority of our children achieve a Division1 result and those that don’t are supported and helped to improve. Each class has good quality text books and resources for practical lessons.
As well as providing an excellent education for each child, we also offer:
- Transport on the Wellspring bus
- Day care facilities
- Free health care
- After school clubs
- Swimming lessons
The school site is a pleasant safe environment with specific play areas for Nursery and Primary pupils. The classrooms are all airy, light, well decorated and resourced, and maintained to a high level. Children’s work is displayed creatively by hard working teachers.
Each child is in a ‘House’ which encourages motivation and competitiveness, and they receive awards for effort, achievement or good attitudes.
The Staff
Our staff are all well qualified, experienced and enthusiastic professionals. They care for each individual child, striving to achieve their potential. We have 18 teachers for 280 pupils, who work as a team for the benefit of our pupils.
All education at Wellspring is overseen by a management team.
The Pupils
Pupils come not just from the local community but from all over Kampala. We also have a sponsorship programme, which at present enables 22 children to benefit from a Wellspring education which their families could not otherwise afford. See child sponsorship for more details.
