Maternity Unit

The maternity suite delivery room, Our 100th baby being weighed - 2 hours old!The maternity unit is a small private facility and a fully trained and experienced midwife is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. It is a well equipped, pleasant and comfortable unit, with flush toilet and excellent bathing facilities. Good care is given before and after delivery.

The charges made for delivery are very reasonable for the excellent care given and facilities provided. A birth record document is issued free of charge to all mothers delivering at Wellspring.

No food is provided and patients are required to provide and organise laundering of bed linen etc.

Women developing serious complications during delivery will be referred to hospital. A private hire vehicle can be made available if required but the cost of this is chargeable to the patient not the health centre.

Antenatal and Postnatal Care

Complete antenatal care is given to any pregnant woman who registers at Wellspring.

She will be seen by a fully trained midwife at every visit and the progress of the pregnancy monitored and recorded on a registration card. A small charge is made for this and for the regular checks made by the midwife.

Also a reasonable charge is made for any laboratory tests required and for any treatment given during the pregnancy.

Women may attend for antenatal checks between 9am and 5pm, 7 days a week. If it is not possible to attend during these hours, a midwife is available until 10pm.

Should complications develop during the pregnancy, women may be referred to hospital.

Post natal care is given to all mothers who deliver at Wellspring Maternity Unit and family planning advice is available also.

Family Planning and Counselling

Most methods of family planning are available at our out patient surgery from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week. A medical check is given to the client by a member of our medical staff, prior to injectable and oral contraceptives being given.

For this service a small charge is made and a registration card is issued to the client.

On subsequent visits the client may be checked if required and relevant advice given where appropriate.

Condoms and vaginal pessaries are available free of charge. Norplan implants are also available by appointment with the doctor.

At present we do not supply or fit IU devices.

Child Immunisation Programme

A full child immunisation programme is available at our out patient surgery on Tuesday mornings between 9am and 12 noon.

If clients are unable to bring their children at that time, immunisation may be given during our opening hours from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Whilst no charge is made for the vaccines given, a small charge is made for a registration card.

Wellspring Health Centre is a designated centre when National Immunisation Days (NIDs) and National Child Care Days are operating. When NIDs occur, information is given on TV, radio and in the national press.

Nutritional, Educational and Child Development Monitoring

Mothers can receive nutritional education, advice and information when bringing their children for immunisation at Wellspring Health Centre on Tuesday mornings between 9am and 12 noon.

Children may also be bought for development monitoring and weight checking any time between 8am and 10pm, 7 days a week.

A medically trained member of staff will also be available to give advice and answer questions relating to children's well being and development. No charge is made for this service.
