Wellspring Christian Fellowship

Introduction

This fellowship meets on Sunday morning at Wellspring from 10 -12.30pm and is alive with all ages. As a local indigenous church, it began in 1995 with 8 people and has grown to more than 200 adults currently + children and youth. The average age of this fellowship is about 22yrs. Herbert and Eve Wanjala, lead this work which was planted and led by Mike and Beryl Godward untlil 2003. With a major emphasis on the Father heart of God, many are being saved and healed. Another feature is friendship evangelism which has grown the church to what it is today.

The need for a model

It is essential that a model is built of what we are teaching. With this in mind a fellowship was established at Wellspring. The work is growing and has great potential for the future. So far we have every reason to be encouraged, as people begin to grasp truth for our times, and start living in the fullness of their salvation. Wellspring Christian Fellowship is part of the 'model' being built. Mike has birthed leadership in order to ensure a strong team further down the road. Herbert Wanjala, and Patrick and Simon  are elders at Wellspring Christian Fellowship, and Herbert now leads a team, are the first fruits of this approach. Discipleship training is also a key part of fellowship life.

History

The church started as a bible study group in 1995 and has now grown to about 200 adults plus children and youth, to which people are being added . Fairly uniquely the church is not reaching out through the usual model of street evangelism, but through relationship and friendship evangelism. This has led to a very strong family basis on which it continues to grow.

Based on 'the family'

The church is developing a 'family' model with great emphasis placed on individual family life as being the bedrock of not just the church but the society as a whole.

Growth

Already we have six churches which have been planted by those trained at Wellspring, in the East of Uganda in Tororo.

Added to this are now 'partnership' churches in Mbalala, Kamuli , Kamwenge (Uganda) as well as Tanzania and Kenya..

Values

The Values of Wellspring Christian Fellowship are:

1. Understanding the Father Heart of God

This revelation is both a foundational and life transforming truth and includes the following:

  • The almighty God is also our perfect Daddy!
  • He loves us unconditionally
  • He delights in us as His children (Zephaniah 3:17)
  • He longs to relate with us intimately
  • He is the key to all relationships
  • He is the great medicine for rejection wounds of the spirit

We find that this revelation totally changes and revolutionalises peoples lives.

2. Living as a Kingdom Community

We are committed to living our lives as the community of God's people in our relationships to one another in harmony under the rule of Christ the King. These values are explicit in our:

  • marriage and family
  • business and pleasure
  • integrity and truth
  • caring expression

3. Being part of His Church

Jesus' commitment to build His church implies that this is His church and NOT ours. This is different from what man could ever build.

4. Being a Worshiping Family

As a worshiping family we are building towards the Father in spirit and truth, touching His heart and being changed inside out.

5. Committed to Discipleship

We are committed to presenting every one mature in Christ. This is a result of somebody who is mature being brought along side a young Christian with a desire to grow in truth. Together we want to touch the nations with the love of Christ,, fulfilling the Great Commission to the church (Matthew 28:19-20).
